RECRUITMENT
Why AED?
Hear from some of our members!
“When I think about my time at USC, AED is one of the first things that comes to mind. When I joined, I was looking for guidance on the pre-med path. I found that and so much more: a community of like-minded people who genuinely support one another. That community has made me more confident as I've navigated college as a pre-med, and the friendships I've built through AED have become one of the most meaningful parts of my USC experience.”
Gabrielle Rafii, Fall 2025 Class
“As an international student, joining AED helped me gain so much information and navigate the pre-med route. Meeting my AMAZING big (shoutout Darren) meant I had the best mentor ever to guide and support me through college, and I have made so many friends that I now couldn’t imagine my college experience without!”
Tatiana Lumb, Fall 2024 Class
“AED has helped me orient myself within the chaotic pre-med landscape and given me comfort in knowing that I don't have to go on this journey alone. AED has provided me with friendships, advice, and support that have not only made me a better student but also made me a better person. AED exemplifies the "work hard, play hard" mindset I strive towards. I can't imagine a better community of people that will be there for you throughout your pre-med journey and beyond!”
Arman Bardai, Fall 2025 Class
“Applying to AED is a fantastic opportunity because it provides invaluable insights into navigating the premed process and securing a place in an excellent medical school. Being part of this honor society has allowed me to form lasting friendships that have not only enriched my academic journey but have also created a supportive community that I know will feel like family for life.”
Jared Smith, Spring 2024 Class
“The unique opportunity to connect with other pre-medicine students while exploring various specialties within the medical field distinguishes AED from other organizations on campus. The vibrant social aspect of the club complements the professional development opportunities it offers. AED has given me some of my very best friends and invaluable experience in medicine.”
Razanne Mihtar, Fall 2023 Class
“AED has given me so many meaningful experiences and friendships at USC. Through big-little and workshops, I’ve gained not only a support system but lifelong friends. I’m so grateful to have met some of the most genuine, caring, and kind people that will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
Sophia Le, Spring 2025 Class

Interested in joining AED but want more information on how to apply? Come to one of our info sessions held at the beginning of the semester! After attending one of these sessions…
Fill out our written application by the deadline.
After this, we'll contact you to sign up for one of the group interview sessions based on your availability (all applicants will receive a group interview). These group interviews will allow you to show your communication and teamwork skills while being able to interact with our Executive Board via Zoom.
You'll then hear from us on whether or not you will advance to the next round of individual interviews where you'll meet in-person with two of our Executive Board members and let us learn a little more about yourself and your interest in medicine!
After your individual interview, we'll be in contact to notify the members of our next class!

We recruit twice a year: once at the beginning of the fall semester and another time at the beginning of the spring semester! Both classes receive the same experience and there is no advantage or disadvantage to applying for one or the other. We also welcome and encourage previous applicants from prior semesters to reapply for AED!
