Philanthropy at AED

At AED, we strive to embrace giving back to the community through various philanthropic efforts. Throughout the year, AED collaborates with local charities and non-profit organizations to not only benefit those in need but also provide our members with the invaluable opportunity to make a positive impact.

St. Francis Center

St. Francis Center is a local food bank and community center that provides meals and food for those in need. AED has partnered with the St. Francis Center to volunteer at their weekday breakfast serve program. AED volunteers work alongside fellow volunteers to fill various roles, such as servers, assistants, and coffee captains! We serve out guests with a warm meal and provide a sense of community and support while fostering collaboration among our members.

Stray Cat Alliance

Stray Cat Alliance is a nonprofit organization that provides rescue, advocacy, adoption, and trap-neuter-return support for cats throughout Los Angeles. AED has partnered with Stray Cat Alliance by organizing group volunteer events to assist with cat care, shelter maintenance, and adoption preparation tasks. These events give members a chance to support animal welfare while engaging in meaningful, hands-on service.

Union Rescue Mission

In Fall 2024, AED partnered with the Union Rescue Mission (URM) and hosted a Spooky Night Carnival at URM’s Rooftop DTLA location. The carnival was a Halloween-themed event, and it included activities such as cotton candy spinning, popcorn popping, and face painting, followed by a movie. This event was hosted for the children and families of the URM community. For Fall 2025, AED will continue to partner with the Union Rescue Mission.

SCOUT Fair

AED has partnered with USC’s Science Outreach (SCOUT) Student organization for their annual science fair. It is hosted on the Great Lawn on UPC Campus. There are a variety of booths, allowing AED volunteers to operate booths featuring experiments related to medicine. These booths incorporate demos for kids of all ages to enjoy and are offered in a bilingual format as well. The fair is arranged to give children and their families many opportunities to explore.
